UTAMARO is an ukiyo-e artist in the late Edo period who specializes in bijin-ga (woman’s picture).
The place of origin is uncertain. When he was 31 years old, he was found by a influential publisher to the work “Gahon mushi erabi” (a book of poems and picture of creature).
After that, his woman’s pictures that is synonymous with him became very famous.

The background uses a technique called mica printing that glows faintly.
